Very beautiful and peaceful place, friendly staff, amazing views, it almost seems like the time stoped there. Would go back there in a heartbeat.

Quiet, laid back setting

Small, peaceful campground at the end of Manitoulin. Generally clean facilities. Friendly staff.

Peace and quiet in lovely surroundings

Jul 16, 2023by Hans-Georg Grim
Wanted to spend five nights here but only spent three due to vehicle issues prior to the trip. Wonderfull site on a small promontory with a bay protected by a large breakwater. There’s a little buzz during the day time but in the evening and at night the silence is deafening. And the stars. OMG the stars. I live in a rural area but I’ve only ever seen that many stars in Death Valley. We had a site (#3) with electric and water sheltered on both sides by a 6’ high hedge, with a view at the back towards the bay and marina. The site was very clean with a new fire ring and picnic table. We did not make use of the lovely little beach protected by the breakwater and the dock. The central washroom was handy to all sites and kept very clean. Showers were to be had a short walk away at the marina office. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Since time was tight we didn’t spend much time on site but rather explored the area including Sheshegwaning, Gore Bay, Providence Bay, etc. We will definitely be back. Our rig was a 29’ Airstream trailer.

Great little campground

Jul 7, 2023by Lissi Boyd
Great little campground away from it all. The camp sites backing onto the marina had lots of space for our 37ft fifth wheel. The campground itself is very quiet but there is a boat ramp right on the edge of the campground so you do have to watch the fishermen come and go all day. The dump station is awkward for large units.

Right where 540 Ends!

We were 2 couples in 25 ft Travel Trailers and we stayed from August 4th to Aug 9th this past summer. We stayed in Sites # 1 & 2. Both these sites were serviced by Hydro and water but could definitely benefit from some ground levelling. This campground is definitely a work in progress. While small and unique in it's location, the wash house facilities leave something to be desired. I certainly hope the competition of this facility is next on the "To Do" list. There are showers (very clean) available at the Harbour Masters Building. The addition of a beach area is very nice and it was very quiet while we were there. Unfortunately there is almost nothing to do in Meldrum Bay itself as the Net Shed Museum is boarded up, the Meldrum Bay Inn and it's great dining experience is only available to people who book at least 2 nights stay and then only on weekends. Dove's Place is gone and the 540 Ends General Store was closed almost the whole time we were there due to a Covid-19 outbreak amongst the staff. However the Happy Camper Gorge was very interesting and the "seven2one" studio were great places to visit. Until the Mississagi Lighthouse Museum and Campground reopen (questionable), this campground is the only one on the west end of Manitoulin. Bottom line, there's still some work to be done here but we will definitely come again to visit this quaint village and it's campground.

Peaceful, tranquility and friendly

Best place to spend the last 3 days of our holidays. Fantastic views, peaceful area and clean facilities. John was awesome, always checking with everyone that things were okay, making sure everything was clean and invited us to a campfire with live music. It was the best way to finish our holidays. Thanks John

Gorgeous.

Best campground I’ve been to. Meldrum bay is beautiful, Misery Bay PP is amazing, the washroom is CLEAN, the Marina building with the showers is sparkling. The Harbormaster is very congenial and checks in with you after arrival to be sure you are set up OK.

Secluded and beautiful!

Aug 3, 2022by Daniel Gabrian
Everything went smooth: from reservation, to communicating with staff, to requests being met. The site is clean and although there is no privacy between sites everybody behaved and respected each other. The facilities were clean and welcoming. Hopefully a second stall could be added to the men's washroom. The views over the bay were fantastic. John was a very attentive host. Very much looking forward to another visit

Quiet place with amazing views!

Jul 27, 2022by Sue Frechette
We were looking for a quiet, out of the way place to spend a weekend on Manitoulin Island. We're self contained in our 8 meter/25 foot RV and don't use the facilities except for an occasional shower. We made reservations 2 weeks before our arrival. There were available sites during our stay. This campground is a gem. All sites have a view of the bay. Most have full sun. The sites are close together yet generously sized and some have added privacy from hedges between the sites. Sites are grassy/gravel and all need some leveling. Campers are welcome to use the marina facilities to shower and use wifi. The shower was clean with ample hot water and water pressure. The wifi was good. There was good ATT cell coverage while roaming through Rogers and good Verizon coverage through Telus. John and Patty were helpful and attentive.

Although remote from most services like gas, food, LCBO, etc. , the scenery and atmosphere at the campground was great. Very friendly and helpful couple managing the campground. They would go out of their way to help make your stay enjoyable. We would go back again.

A quaint campground with panoramic and picturesque view

Jul 3, 2022by Hitesh Bansal
The view from the campground is strikingly beautiful. Specifically the sites 11-15 are directly by the bay water and are the best spots in my opinion. However, be ready for some pretty windy but amazing camping experience if you do choose these sites. Also, since we were first time campers and had zero clue about setting up a tent; John (Manager) helped us a lot and taught us how to set one up. I highly recommend this place for a peaceful and beautiful camping trip.

Best camping site with gorgeous views. Very friendly and helpful management. Highly recommend!

Awesome view. Very peaceful.

Jul 2, 2022by Neil Baldwin
There is zero privacy (sites 11-15, which face outward toward the North Channel, are basically a field) but, WOW, the view more than makes up for it. And if you do want to hang out in a bit less public spot, there is a short trail from each site (11-15) down to a cobblestone beach at water's edge. The campground is small, peaceful and quiet. Don't worry that the map shows it right beside Hwy 540... it's a dead end road, at the far end of Manitoulin, in a quaint little village that has the comforting feel of a maritime outpost. The campground/marina Manager, John, is a friendly, accommodating person whose presence immediately makes you feel welcome here. This place is a true hidden gem, reasonably priced, and I look forward to returning.
