Campground Description

Diplomat Trout Pond Campground is a serene escape just 16 km from Forestburg, nestled on the east side of Hwy 855, directly across from the Diplomat Mine Interpretive Site. This peaceful spot offers 15 non-serviced campsites, perfect for those looking to unplug and immerse themselves in nature. The scenic Trout Pond is teeming with wildlife and plant species, which can be enjoyed from a tranquil lakeside gazebo or along the nature trail.

Local Attractions

The Diplomat Trout Pond has been stocked annually with rainbow trout since 1980. The pond has also been stocked annually with tiger trout since 2018, providing a new diverse fishing opportunity for anglers that fish at this location. Big Knife Provincial Park just South that has fishing along the Battle River and many nature trails to enjoy including hoodoos. The Diplomat Interpretive Mine Site is also right across the highway which showcases a big part of unique and interesting history in Flagstaff.

CHECK IN TIME: 4:00pm 

CHECK OUT TIME: 2:00pm. 

QUIET TIME From 11:00pm to 8:00am. Please respect other campers, excessive noise, use of profanity, loud music and obnoxious disturbances will not be tolerated. 

Children must be within their site by 11:00pm. 

PETS must always be on a leash and cleaned up after. Please pick up after your pets and do not leave them unattended. 

SPEED LIMITS must be obeyed always. The speed limit within the park is 20km/hr. This is a family campground so please watch for children especially near playgrounds and other recreational areas. Motorbikes, ATV’s, etc. may NOT be used within the park. 

MOTORIZED WATERCRAFTS are NOT permitted on the lake or pond. 

CANNABIS consumption is prohibited in any public place (Cannabis Consumption Bylaw 11/18) 

FIRES are only permitted in fire pits provided. Fire pits are not to be moved. All fire bans must be obeyed. 

FIREWORKS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN CAMPGROUND 

WASTEWATER OR EFFLUENT dumping on the ground is prohibited. Please use the nearest dumping station. 

GARBAGE is to be bagged, tied and disposed of in designated garbage bins. 

ONE RV PER SITE or TENT PER SITE: A maximum of two parked vehicles per site. (Example 1-RV or tent, 2-vehicles, 1-tent) 

PLAYGROUND Children at the playground must be supervised. 

RESERVATION POLICY: All reservations require 72 hours’ notice of cancellation or full amount is forfeited. 

GENERATORS are to be used between 8:00am to 11:00am and 5:00pm to 7:00pm
