Great Municipal Campground

Oct 9, 2024by Ivan Barroeta
Beautiful landscape, nice staff, responsive, clean washrooms, great place overall.

Good location

Sep 27, 2024by Anonymous
This campground is in a good location with a variety of service levels. Everything worked that we used but the showers were quite dirty at least when we used them

Great Location

Sep 18, 2024by Orest Kalawsky
Campground is in a great location for exploring the area! Sites are clean and there are many sites that you can set up two units back to back or side by side. Although the attendant was not always on site, she always answered her phone and did come to site when required for getting wood. Campground does need some maintenance as the water hookup on my site leaked constantly from the reducer valve. It is unfortunate that they built the showers so small as it is difficult to get wet in the small showers. The water was fine and the bathrooms were clean, so overall our stay was a pleasant experience. We will be back

Positives all around, Great campground!

Sep 2, 2024by Anonymous
Clean bathrooms, with showers! 1 free wheelbarrow of wood per site, which was a plus. The sites are spacious with good privacy, depending on your site. Great location, close to town but not right in it. Friendly staff, very accommodating. Will be revisiting, great job grande cache campground!

Not impressed

Aug 27, 2024by jeanette Getten
We have been going to Grande Cache campground many times as we and other family members live in the Grande Prairie area while others live in BC Mission area and this camp ground was a kind if half way for our get together. When this campground was run by the town we had no issues with putting a tent in the same site as our RV at no extra charge, rates were a bit lower also. This year it cost our family for 1 site RV/2 tents over $95 per nite. When I booked the sites I was told of an additional charge for the tent but was not told full price per day per tent until the boys came to pay for their part. I don't feel that price for 1 site is proper and if the county (government) is that money hungry you will NOT see our family there again. It was also hard to catch someone in the office. Friends have also told us they will not stay there again either to pricie

Good morning Jeanette, We are sorry to hear of your experience regarding site bookings and pricing. Pricing has remained consistent for a couple of years now, even with an improvement of adding free firewood to the reservation. All of our policies can be accessed on the website as well as on the sign in email provided upon the time of reservation. However, we will take into consideration your comments for future seasons and hope to see you again in the future. Please take care and have a great remainder of the nice weather!

Great Location for area access

Aug 16, 2024by Neil A Williams
Nice spot. Sites are ok. Utilities are good. WIFI is useless. At $50/nite it's pricey. Dryers in laundry are poor. Very little heat. Ended hanging everything up to dry.

Such a beautiful place

Aug 12, 2024by Angie Frizzell
We stayed in stall 41. Only 2 small issues, it is not the most level stall, and the sewer drain was higher than our units drain. A bit of gravel to bring up the side with the water/electric/ sewer, and trim off about 6 inches of the sewer drain would make this stall 100% better. Also unless you catch the free wheelbarrow of wood, no one mentions it. BUT, it is a wonderful place to stay, the mature trees, privacy between stalls, friendly staff, clean shower house and only a short walk to town for all your shopping needs make this campground a treasure. We will definately be back!! Great job Grande Cache!!!

Family friendly!

Aug 12, 2024by donovan cochrane
Very nice campsite, we went tenting with a 2 year old. Good size sites, clean with a good layout. Little park for the kids and friendly staff. Washrooms nice and clean. 1 wheelbarrow of firewood comes free with each site. Considering how close it is to town you would never know. Makes for an e quick easy getaway without worrying about being to far off the beaten path. Also for a Friday Saturday night in the midst of summer it was very quiet! Would definitely recommend! Happy camping !

Tent camper with pop up shelter

Aug 11, 2024by Bradley Dragon
Positives Clean showers and bathrooms. Water and power were at campsite. One wheelbarrow of free firewood with campsite. Negatives Site map is not as clear online as it could be. I picked a site that was designed for joint camping. I was able to just pick another campsite without issue. The attendant was very accommodating. Site attendant was not forthcoming. We had to ask other campers about firewood. We had to ask for an electrical RV plug converter to 110 that was 25$ 14$ more than amazon sells the exact same thing. So if you plan on using power buy the plug on amazon before going. Overall amazing campground clean, quiet, shady. Lots of trees and soft ground to pound in tent pegs. I will be back.

Pay attention to how motorhomes are set up.

Jul 22, 2024by Shawn MacKenzie
Stayed in pull through lot 42 with 40 foot motorhome. Lot had at least a 4-5” grade which took several blocks to drive on to with the front tires just to get the motorhome level with the auto jacks. No big deal as I’m used to it. Power plug had no breaker at the plug in and yes I tripped the breaker when both my air conditioners kicked on. Had to go to the house where the lovely young girl that works there went and reset the breaker for me after hours. Put breakers at the plugs would be a suggestion. Most frustrating park was that the black water connection was at least a foot above the ground so neither the grey or black would gravity feed?? Cut them down to ground level people!

Good morning Mr. MacKenzie, thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at the Grande Cache Campground. Your input will be passed on to the maintenance team for follow up. We do have plans in the future to locate breakers at each site to make things easily accessible and reduce the amount of time waiting for a reset. Have a great day and we hope to see you again soon!

The best for tent camping

Jul 21, 2024by Beatriz Fernandez
We have been tenting at the Grande Cache municipal campground for 3 years now. We love it!!! It is perfect for tents: drinking water and power on site, clean and convenient washrooms, sites surrounded by trees, grocery store close by, gated at night. The only thing that could be improved is the condition of the ground on the tent sites, especially number 77.They could be better levelled and have finer gravel.

Our favourite

After traveling from Muskoka, Ontario to Yukon and Alaska and at least 25 campgrounds, this is our favourite. Spacious , level and private sites.

Spacious and private

Aug 19, 2022by Millie Sweesy
Beautiful setting, lots of trees, lots of hiking trails (though the trails could use with some grooming, many are overgrown) We felt we had the campground to ourselves, July 17-19, 2022. Showers are clean and included, small laundry room, but sufficient. Brenda runs the show and is very helpful. Would stay here again.

Awesome Camping Experience!

Aug 12, 2022by Rhizabel Fanged
It was really a nice campsite, friendly staff and definitely Brain Injury group will come back again.

We love staying here

Aug 2, 2022by Lesley Prosko
We have stayed here the last few Death race weekends, as well as a few training weekends. The sites are big and private with the trees. The playground is so much fun and they added a playhouse this year which was a real hit! We will definitely be back!

We’ll spaced/treed, with clean bathrooms

Aug 1, 2022by James Brownson
This was a great find. The lots are well spaced/trees for privacy. There are lots with minimal/no trees between them if you want to go as a group too. The indoor washrooms/showers where clean and well maintained. Great price for what you get too. Playground in the middle for the kids. I’ll be going back again next time I’m there for the Race.

3rd time time there and we will be back for more!

Jul 24, 2022by Thierry Breuls de Tiecken
This is our third stay at the Grande Cache Campground tenting. Which means we are staying for more than a night. We love the place! Having water and power at a tent site is so handy! And the shower (hot!) and bathrooms are very clean! The day we left our car battery died. The camp manager was manager was extremely helpful and gave us a boost. And she was super nice with the kids! We love the place and we will come back!

Great camp sites and quiet but…

Jul 22, 2022by Anonymous
- the gate is a pain in the ass, not sure why it doesn’t stay open till office hours are closed - the gate key pad is at a ridiculous location, it should be by the gate - not able to book long term stays - wifi doesn’t work Quiet campground Big sites Nice check in person

Great campground close to Grande Cache

Jul 14, 2022by Anonymous
Good price for full services. Nice campground, quiet sheltered sites. We will be back! The only mildly annoying point is having to pick your site from the internet map sight unseen.

Great campground!

Jul 12, 2022by Ronald Gifford
Just stayed 5 nights here. Firewood was dry, campsite was clean and quiet! Close enough to town that if you need anything it’s a 5 minute drive, but tucked away enough you wouldn’t know ya were near a town at all. Lots of nice lakes for fishing and lots of walking trails for hiking! Will be back!

This campground has clean washrooms, friendly staff, reasonably priced firewood and can't beat having water sewer and power for that price. We will definitely be back

Great to disappointing

Jun 20, 2022by Krista Mitchell
My family and I have stayed at this campsite for years, on average 6 times a year as we train for races. It is a beautiful hidden gem right inside Grande Cache. A perfect place to stay while training for the Death Race. A park, a golf course, walking trails and a near by lake, lots for the little people to do. However this season has been over the top terrible! The new attendant does not control noise, bathrooms are crazy dirty, fire pits are not cleaned, and she never has you booked in the correct sites or on paper at all. It is super frustrating. And the worst part!! - the horrific smell of weed and smoke when you go into the office. Public and paying customers should not have to walk into an office that smells that bad. I am super disappointed as this as been one of our favourite places to camp.

Nice Campground

Sep 7, 2021by Anonymous
A very nice campground. Clean and well kept. Unfortunately it was not mentioned at time of booking that a ball tournament and wedding were happening that weekend of our stay. Our site was across from party central, and the noise was over the top. From the extremely loud music and all the yelling and hollering it was difficult to enjoy sitting by the fire. Also fireworks were set off Saturday night which sent my dogs in a frenzy. Communication up front would of been great, and maybe we could of switched spots upon arrival. Once set up I really don’t want to pack up and move. We left a day early as we didn’t want another loud evening.

Clean Campground but Washrooms Are Far!

Aug 9, 2021by Hermione Ainsworth
We stayed here for the Death Race weekend, both racing. This was a very well maintained campground but we were unfortunate to be camped next to probably the noisiest campers in the whole campground, and the nighttime quiet hours were not enforced by anyone so we ended up dealing with the noise ourselves (politely!) and thankfully they were good about it. Our site was one of the furthest away from the washrooms, which were very well maintained and clean. However, it was a little disappointing that there was nothing closer - a 4+ minute walk in the middle of the pitch black night is not an appealing prospect! If we were to visit again, we would like to see better quiet hours enforcement, and we would definitely seek to book a site much closer to the only washroom block on site.

Awesome RV Park

Jul 18, 2021by Anonymous
Beautiful RV park. Luke and Amanda are amazing. They are so friendly and helpful. They make sure guests get the right stalls and then check in to make sure you are happy with your accommodations. Amanda was so helpful and went above and beyond when we needed to change our plans and accommodations around. She made it work! Very clean, treed private spots. Quiet and relaxing, location. Walking trails right from the park, golf course next door, close to town. Highly recommend! Thanks! The Bjorks

My husband and I, with a couple of friends chose to stay here for a weekend and were very glad we did. The campground is conveniently located, the couple running it were very nice and friendly and helpful. The site itself was clean and there are some trees in between each site. The firewood was very generous in quantity for the price. I highly recommend this campground to anyone and everyone. We will be back there as soon as we can. 5 Stars from us!!

This is seriously one of the best if not the best campground we have ever stayed at. The hostess (Elaine) was very welcoming and professional, even calling us ahead to notify us of a change to our campsite booking because of maintenance. Such a pretty and private location in an area of Alberta where there is an abundance of activities. We hope to come back.

My Son & I spent last weekend here and really enjoyed our stay. Easy online registration, detailed instructions for arrival. And extremely friendly lady in the office! And although there’s a world epidemic going on, I felt very safe at this site. All sorts of safety in place, but not so much that it’s “in your face”. Great price for everything included. And get LOTS of wood for $10 or $20. I look forward to visiting here again.

We have a picture of what excellent hospitality is from the town and the campground management

Unfriendly

Aug 13, 2020by Tim Paul
Called the number when we got there and left a message to see if we could switch to a different site in the morning, because our trailer didn’t fit and the fire pit was almost in the neighbours site. The caretaker drives to our site all disheveled looking and boozed up asking “who’s complaining?” And mad that we had visitors. We won’t stay here again

Extremely rude Staff

Aug 12, 2020by Anonymous
after a long day of travel With a small child and in full exhaustion we arrived only to realize the site we had booked unseen for a 30’ camper did not fit. I drove around and found a pull through that would fit. I figured hey this should be fine, I’ll just call down to the office and make the change. I plugged in, opened the slides and No sooner did Elaine pull up in her lil dodge truck yelling “NO NO NO” at me out her window and shaking her fist at me. Not even an inch of respect or willingness to work with me, she continued to yell at me That I needed to leave the site I was parked in until I broke down and cried. I was so disappointed that her approach wasn’t to get out of her vehicle, introduce herself, listen to my challenge that I was having and help me make the change to my online booking. I instead just went ahead and paid for the second lot. I was not offered a refund for the initial lot that didn’t work, wasn’t offered an apology or any communication. This was hands down the worst campground experience I have EVER had in my life. The MD should be ashamed of the asshole who runs the grounds.

Aggressive caretaker

Aug 4, 2020by Tim Paul
Wish there was pictures of the sites when booking, the site we had wasn’t wide enough to put awning and slide out. Fire pit was setup way behind the trailer and the rv next to us was almost on top of it. The caretaker was very boozed up and aggressive after hours, when we had visitors, even though we weren’t playing music or close to quiet time. We won’t be returning.

Really liked this campground

Jul 24, 2020by Kevin Sprague
Would have liked to see a trail connecting this campground to the golf course next door. Otherwise it is a very nice site with lots of trees.

Been going here for 7 yrs.

Jul 21, 2020by Rick Svecla
Elaine and present staff were great. I run the mountains, Elaine even watched for me to come back while I trained last year. She never had to do that conditions were ugly in 2019? Great hiking, and running also well looked after grounds. Its worth the stop very clean and are managing the pandemic very well!! The only one issue I had its tight to get in..... new gates. I will be back love the accommodations.

Great campground, great location

Jul 11, 2020by Curt Cozma
Right in town but you would never know it. Lots of trees and privacy in most sites. This campground is near everything you might want to do in the Grande Cache area. Friendly folks. Each site could use a little more gravel though. With all the rain there was a little more mud than we are used to. But certainly we would go back.

Very quiet and clean

Jun 27, 2020by Anonymous
Visiting during the time of COVID created a couple of odd rules here, like you couldn’t use the washroom unless you were tenting, which I thought you couldn’t do anyway. The site I’d originally booked was 9 but we couldn’t stay in it because the services were spaced so far from each other if we parked to reach one we couldn’t reach another so we moved to 8. Firewood is expensive. But we had a pleasant stay and would stay there again if we are going to be in the area.

Sep 5, 2019by Kim Hicks
As usual this campground was wonderful. The sites are huge and I love how friendly the lady in the office is. It is a great place to stay when touring the area or just hang out with a group. The only thing I could say I didn’t like was that this visit there were quite a few dogs not leashed in the park both in the sites and walking around.

Dissatisfied

Sep 3, 2019by Anonymous
Really nice campground, but...firewood is very expensive @ $20 for a level wheelbarrow; which is only available till 6pm and not through lunch. Proclaimed quiet time to start @ 11:00pm yet loud music played all 3 nights of our stay beyond midnight. I had to request other campers to turn down the music myself. Sites are powered, but no mention online that they’re only outfitted for RV power and no power adapters on site to rent or buy.

Unprofessional

Jul 1, 2019by Anonymous
Visited people who were there for the 50th, very nice campground But when the people have to do their own fixing up of campsite, appalling , considering the price, there was a lot of rain over the wkend, makes for messes everywhere, one man was wheeling gravel to fill in a muddy hole, at their campsite, the other was cleaning her own fire pit, there are 2 large holes at the entrance that you could lose a vehicle in. Maintenance is suggested

Very clean and well taken care of!!

Clean bathrooms, with showers! 1 free wheelbarrow of wood per site, which was a plus. The sites are spacious with good privacy, depending on your site. Great location, close to town but not right in it. Friendly staff, very accommodating. Will be revisiting, great job grande cache campground!

Nice spot. Sites are ok. Utilities are good. WIFI is useless. At $50/nite it's pricey. Dryers in laundry are poor. Very little heat. Ended hanging everything up to dry.

Aug 13, 2020
after a long day of travel With a small child and in full exhaustion we arrived only to realize the site we had booked unseen for a 30’ camper did not fit.

Right in town but you would never know it. Lots of trees and privacy in most sites. This campground is near everything you might want to do in the Grande Cache area. Friendly folks. Each site could use a little more gravel though. With all the rain there was a little more mud than we are used to. But certainly we would go back.

Jul 11, 2020
Visiting during the time of COVID created a couple of odd rules here, like you couldn’t use the washroom unless you were tenting, which I thought you couldn’t do anyway. The site I’d originally booked was 9 but we couldn’t stay in it because the services were spaced so far from each other if we parked to reach one we couldn’t reach another so we moved to 8. Firewood is expensive. But we had a pleasant stay and would stay there again if we are going to be in the area.

As usual this campground was wonderful. The sites are huge and I love how friendly the lady in the office is. It is a great place to stay when touring the area or just hang out with a group. The only thing I could say I didn’t like was that this visit there were quite a few dogs not leashed in the park both in the sites and walking around.

- the gate is a pain in the ass, not sure why it doesn’t stay open till office hours are closed - the gate key pad is at a ridiculous location, it should be by the gate - not able to book long term stays - wifi doesn’t work Quiet campground Big sites Nice check in person

This campground was very clean. The office staff was very nice. The sites are big with lots of trees for privacy. Very close to town. So everything is accessible. Will stay agin if we are out that way.

Good price for full services. Nice campground, quiet sheltered sites. We will be back! The only mildly annoying point is having to pick your site from the internet map sight unseen.

We booked via website site unseen. It was a great campground with treed sites and the cleanest bathrooms and showers I have ever seen. The staff was phenomenal and the campers were all respectful. We will be back.

We won’t stay here again

after a long day of travel With a small child and in full exhaustion we arrived only to realize the site we had booked unseen for a 30’ camper did not fit.

Would have liked to see a trail connecting this campground to the golf course next door. Otherwise it is a very nice site with lots of trees.

Right in town but you would never know it. Lots of trees and privacy in most sites. This campground is near everything you might want to do in the Grande Cache area. Friendly folks. Each site could use a little more gravel though. With all the rain there was a little more mud than we are used to. But certainly we would go back.
