NEVER AGAIN

Jul 23, 2024by Anonymous
I booked site 10 for 4 days, with the understanding that we would have no power or water for 2 days because site number 9 was already booked. And when site 9 was available we could use the power and water for the following 2 days. they even offered an extension cord if needed so we wouldn't have to move our trailer. and that they would not rent our site 9 while we were there. She even gave us a deal on the rate. Upon arrival I was told that there was a mix up and that we could pull into site 9 instead. The girl that was booking us in had all the paperwork already printed and did not want to reprint it. so i signed it, and away we went. As we were pulling into site 9 and met up with others from our group i learned that there were campers in site 10 and that the other family member went to the office with one of the campers. it was agreed that the campers would move their trailer. and that cleared up site 9 for us. GREAT) So on day 3 we hooked up the power and water as agreed and all was good. SO WE THOUGHT. That afternoon the same girl that told us to park in site 9 came over and said that we were in the wrong site according to her paperwork (which i learned she did not change the site number on her paperwork) She said the site was book, I reminded her of our conversation upon our arrival but she said she couldn't remember (I felt like she was calling me a Lyer) I said if we have to move our trailer we would leave. she said she would figure things out. I would think that these people would go around and make sure there sites are clean and ready for the next campers to arrive. Upon leaving we discovered that the gates were locked, and we had to hunt someone down to open them for us. we were mortified to see the gates locked, and knowing the distance to get to the resort , in case of a emergency , when time is a factor having the gates locked is not a practice. As for my husband and myself we will never return back. Cannot give all details as space is limited

Disappointing Service

Jul 23, 2024by Elaina davidson
We were disappointed upon arrival to find our reservations mixed up and another patron on one of our sites. Ultimately we did get it straightened out, but we shouldn't have to get involved. I would suggest the owner/manager review bookings daily to ensure they are aware of who is coming/going. Also, I was shocked to find the gate locked until 8am. As a former paramedic I couldn't imagine how an ambulance could respond if the gate was locked and limited cell service in the area. I will not be back. Very disappointed!

Always Awesome and improving

May 29, 2024by Ross Woolley
Been going for a few years now and for the past couple of years, camping in my van using their electrical hook ups. The fact that I keep returning speaks for itself. The resort location itself is remote and stunning, the family members are warm and always helpful, and the fishing is (almost) always good (that last one is on me!). Every year they make some improvements to comfort and aesthetics without taking away from the core beauty of the place. Thank you.

Friendly, lots of room

May 27, 2024by Lloyd Sumpter
I was the ONLY tent on the site! I was late getting in (7pm) so the office was closed but I had phoned so there was a note on the door telling me to go ahead to the site. There was a bit of a problem finding out the exact boundaries of my site (turned out it didn't matter, since I had no neighbours), but the site was nice and flat, but a little "tilted". It would have been perfect for a trailer, but you can't level a tent. And of course it's quite a hike to the bathrooms. So... it's a great resort but not really suited for tents. And the lake is GREAT for fishing!

Great Stay, we will be back

Jan 24, 2024by Anonymous
Lovely retreat for 6 of us adults to have a great little getaway in the Redwood Cabin. The family was very helpful, engaging and even set up a hockey game just for us to watch after the lodge had closed for the day! Loved the atmosphere and the owners wee grandkids were very talkative and endearing and enjoying the expanses of their property. The skating rink was a wonderful addition, we all tried our hand at it after many years, it was so much fun. The guys even had great luck with ice fishing. We will be going back for certain, maybe camping next time.

Amazing Family Friendly Resort - AWESOME Staff

Aug 28, 2023by Candace Morrison
The Knouff Lake Wilderness Resort is AMAZING. The location is not that far away from the city of Kamloops, but far enough away that you feel like you are on your own little planet of paradise. The resort is immaculately maintained and 110% safe for our 4 little girls to roam and experience true independence. The staff are amazing, and responded to all our requests immediately and with a smile. The boat, paddle boat, etc rentals are kept in excellent working order, and the pricing is very, very reasonable. My husband and I plan to book two weeks next summer as one week just wasn't long enough. Thank you Joy, Andre, and Kendra for a great summer experience.

Very nice resort

We had a fabulous time. Unfortunately there was an incident that woke us up at 4am. It’s too bad that some people are not respectful of others. But all in all we enjoyed our stay and we will return.

Redwood Cabin Experience - Beware of Mice

Jul 31, 2023by Anonymous
Our family went to Knouff Lake Resort and we stayed in the Redwood Cabin, very cute big cabin facing the lake, we were initially happy with it and excited to stay the week. Unfortunately we ended up checking out early because every night we were chasing mice around the cabin and it wasn't relaxing at all. One even was on my foot at the kitchen table one evening which was probably the last straw and made me want to go home early. There were also mice dropping's around cabin in mudroom area and I was very disappointed, the cabin isn't cheap close to $300 a night and when I very nicely told the gentleman in the office we were checking out early and the mouse problem we experienced, he laughed and said "ya that is normal". No explanation, no discussion on the extra day we paid for and were not getting, no I'm sorry to hear that, it wasn't handled very professionally at all I was very disappointed. It's too bad because it left a negative experience for us and doubtful we would come here again or recommend it to anyone unfortunately.

VERY UNHAPPY Campers

Jul 25, 2023by Natalie Larocque
I was unaware that Knouff Lake Resort had new owners. When I arrived, I was practically IGNORED. No mention of fees or rules or even a greeting. I was given a price that shocked me compared to what I was used to, but since it was a long weekend and the boys really wanted to camp, I paid. Then I was given a site #, told it is there on the map, and given a page of rules. Had difficulty finding the site because it wasn't set up like the map. Finally found it but no distinct boundaries, but started to set things up. Owners finally came around and the woman that checked me in told me I needed to move because I was in another site, her hubby said 'they're fine', and they started bickering as to who was right and why someone should have painted lines as to site lines. SO UNPROFESSIONAL!!! Eventually, I did not need to move. Each sites' occupants were crammed in like sardines. As for those rules, there were also additional rules posted in the bathrooms and being given out by fellow campers. Even more unprofessional. The boys ended up cutting their camping short which extra added insult to injury since they do not do refunds. Suffice to say, I will highly NOT recommend Knouff Resort and will NEVER camp there again. And we used to camp there regularly in their quaint cabins and in our RV.

Great stay!

Jul 15, 2023by Vicki Willis
We originally booked 10 days and extended it another 10. We stayed in the middle, only had neighbours once. The lake, wildlife, hosts, and campground was totally enjoyed. Spotlessly clean laundry and washrooms with showers. There are only 9 sites with electricity and water, but our solar was fine and having Andre come and dump the black tank twice worked perfect. Thank you Joy and Matthew for a great time. We will be back. Hope to see you in Palm Springs!

Update

Jul 5, 2023by Lois Wager
I left a review that wasn’t normal for this resort and I hesitated at the time as it made no sense. I had a lovely lengthy conversation with the owner Joy today. While it doesn’t change the situation we encountered, there were a series of events that affected everyone. I believe this is a lovely campground owned and operated by very hardworking people. We look forward to returning and staying there down the road.

Disappointed

Jul 3, 2023by Lois Wager
This seems so out of character as all of the reviews have been so positive. We did not have that, in fact we ended up paying but not staying. We had car probs the first day we were to check in. The web and email we received said the gate is locked at 10 pm and call to make arrangements. We did, several times and sent an email as well. Since our vehicle wasn’t co operating we didn’t want to arrive at 11 to a locked gate. The site did call us the next day and was dismissive and stated we cld have arrived the gate isn’t Locked. For whatever reason I apologized and confirmed we were still coming up. When we did get to the office the lady at the desk was sitting down and it became apparent she was helping a friend with WhatsApp on his phone. Several minutes passed, I knew the site we had booked I awkwardly asked, oh do we have to check in here? The reply was Ya you do. Ok. She pulled our reservation and told us the site #. I decided we shld prob unpack and come back to buy snacks. I asked when they closed. The reply was soon. This continued as she was still sitting down with her friend. I gathered some items to buy and then stood there waiting to the awkward point of ,do I put it back? We drove to the campsite, couldn’t locate it. It def was not numbered and I took a photo to go and ask. The site that appeared to be ours had not much room between to put up a tent. So we went back to ask but the office was closed. At which point we left. Again this could just have been a series of events that just weren’t positive. No idea. I have reached out to the resort.

Dear Disappointed, I'm sorry to hear you had car troubles. In future if you call the Resort, even leave a message, we can move your reservation to another date. We unfortunately get far too many emails to get back to everyone the day they are sent. We don't lock the gate until all customers have arrived, including our late check in's whether they have told us they are coming in late or not. We help all customers including the European travelers who ask for help, even to download an app so they can send a photo. Sometimes customers do have to wait a few minutes, but we do try our best to keep everyone happy and helped. We were closing soon when you came in however, we stay in the office until everyone is helped even if we are closed, sometimes we will stay 2 or 3 hours longer if were busy. I am truly sorry you felt we were not treating you as you thought we should. Your reservation for a tenting site could have been in a better location, had you booked sooner. in future we do book one year in advance. The Canadian long weekend are a very busy time for us, with exceptions to long weekends its normally a pretty quiet, relaxing and peaceful place to visit. We welcome you to come back, have to you stay with us in a Tenting site of your choice and experience life at the Resort.

Fantastic

Stayed with my daughter for the first time. Resort is first class. Very clean and well kept. Hosts are fantastic and the fishing is pretty good too! Will definately be back.

It feels like their family is your family.

I have camped at many campsites and I never get the same feeling i do when i camp at knouff Lake with the new owners. What a difference! If you've been before but not in the last 2 years, you need to come again. If you haven't ever been, the kids playground, the beach, the activities, the store and amenities, all great! Trust me. 100%

Fantastic upgrades!

Jun 19, 2023by Michelle Campbell
I haven't been up since 2017 with family. The same family came up this time too and the upgrades were fantastic! My Sister in law and Brother in law's cabin wasn't vacant when they arrived, and they were treated so wonderfully for the inconvenience! Joy went out of her way to make sure they had a cabin and that the informal fishing derby my brother in law was running went well. She allowed us to use the main bbq for dinner on Saturday and even let us use the closed lodge to eat dinner because it was windy and cold. The upgrades to the cabins are lovely, everything was clean and tidy in the washrooms and the entire campground was packed with other happy campers like myself!

Constant improvement

Jun 15, 2023by Ross Woolley
I've been coming here for about 15 years. Since the new owners purchased, they have been making changes and upgrades every year. It has always been a stunning place, remote, peaceful, good fishing. Now the grounds and the cabins and the surrounding areas are keeping pace with the setting. The family running the resort are welcoming and warm and look like they are working hard but having fun in the process and Andre and Carolyn are awesome as well. Keep on keeping on.

Connie Bevilacqua

June 1,2023 It was our 1st visit to Knouff Lake Resort and we had The Cottage for 1 week and we are definitely coming back this coming August and already booked for June 2024. If you want super clean grounds, beach area and great fishing, this is a place to come to. The owners/staff were awesome and we cannot thank them enough.

Peaceful, Laid Back

May 30, 2023by Debbie Blair
What a beautiful spot! This is one resort that I can see myself coming back to time and time again. We had a power/water spot with lots of room. The staff were very friendly & helpful. Very well kept and the new owners have done an amazing job with clean up. The Rainbow Trout were spawning & the Loons were singing.

Lots of room, great people

May 30, 2023by Lloyd Sumpter
I had a large tent so was glad the site was level. We were at an Event so it was quite crowded but normally there's lots of room. Boat launch was good, room on the dock for my boat, fishing was good... The only downside was that there are only 2 washrooms and they're both quite a hike, so you had better have at least a porta-potti in your tent. And the loudest things were the frogs in the evening and the birds at first light.

Wonderful Weekend!

Nov 7, 2022by Dean Kliewer
We stayed in one of the historic lakefront cabins and had a memorable weekend. The first snowfall of the year made it magical. The family that owns the resort genuinely care about their guests - they are so accommodating! We will be back.

Friendly owners

Aug 3, 2022by Wendy Hanet
We had 5 spots all nice and big with power and water… the drive in from the pavement was about 14 k on gravel, washboard road….the inside of some cupboards took a beating… there should be some signage as to where to go…we kept thinking we took a wrong turn but we didn’t…. There apparently have been a lot of updates to the campground….the picnic tables should have their turn now… some should be used for firewood…there were big nails sticking out…some only had seating on one side…we picked up one to move out of the way…and 2 of the top boards came right off..yes minor issues but with younger children around …not so good….

Same great space...new owners nice!

Aug 2, 2022by Anonymous
We've been coming to this campsite for 20+ years, and it is nice to see the improvements the new owners have made. We would suggest a "generator policy" similar to provincial campsites....we are not a fan of generators going until way past 11pm!! Otherwise, keep up the good work. We will be back next year.

Very quiet!

Jul 16, 2022by Anonymous
Lovely large grass sites, we had power and water. Must say though, the Sani-dump site was not accessible. Up and hill with a hairpin turn does not work with a 35’ fifth wheel. We managed to get up there, pulled forward and backed up to get close enough. Had to put an extension on our hose to reach the dump. After all that, the angle of the road does not allow the tanks to empty. We ended up leaving and had to dump at another site closer to home. Other than that, and the loss of our fridge contents on the floor from the terrible washboard road, it was great!

Beautiful and friendly

We stayed in a power and water site with our trailer. Very large sites with nice grassy areas. Staff were very friendly and the fishing was great.

We have been going to Knouff for many many years for our fishing derby. The new owners made it so much nicer, more organized, nice sandy beach for the kids. All the staff are professional, helpful, polite all in all great people.Next year is our 10th year for our family/friends derby see you all next year. Thanks to all for a GREAT time!

Big, incremental improvement

Jun 9, 2022by Ross Woolley
Love this place. Have been coming for over 15 years. Under new ownership, each year I see new engines on the boats, water in the cabins, and absolutely, freaking awesome customer service and a real desire to please. Thank you for giving me access to this paradise. I average about 3 trips per year. It rocks.

Favourite spot!

May 24, 2022by Anonymous
I have stayed at this resort a few times over the years, and second time with current owners in charge. It's a great spot and always treated well. If one small detriment to last stay is someone running a generator all night long for 2 of nights I stayed. I think management should be clearer on generator rules and maybe do a campsite sweep a couple times overnight.

Wonderful winter getaway

Feb 8, 2022by Carmen Fenrich
This is our 2nd time staying here and it wont be our last! Had a wonderful experience and the staff/owners are so friendly, accommodating and willing to help! Ice fishing on the lake was fantastic and warming up at the end of the day in the nice cozy cabin by a wood burning fireplace just made the experience that much better! Thank you again for everything!!

Thank you.

We had a fabulous time. Unfortunately there was an incident that woke us up at 4am. It’s too bad that some people are not respectful of others. But all in all we enjoyed our stay and we will return.

We've been coming to this campsite for 20+ years, and it is nice to see the improvements the new owners have made. We would suggest a "generator policy" similar to provincial campsites....we are not a fan of generators going until way past 11pm!! Otherwise, keep up the good work. We will be back next year.

Love this place. Have been coming for over 15 years. Under new ownership, each year I see new engines on the boats, water in the cabins, and absolutely, freaking awesome customer service and a real desire to please. Thank you for giving me access to this paradise. I average about 3 trips per year. It rocks.

Boat launch was good, room on the dock for my boat, fishing was good... The only downside was that there are only 2 washrooms and they're both quite a hike, so you had better have at least a porta-potti in your tent. And the loudest things were the frogs in the evening and the birds at first light.

We stayed in one of the historic lakefront cabins and had a memorable weekend. The first snowfall of the year made it magical. The family that owns the resort genuinely care about their guests - they are so accommodating! We will be back.

We've been coming to this campsite for 20+ years, and it is nice to see the improvements the new owners have made. We would suggest a "generator policy" similar to provincial campsites....we are not a fan of generators going until way past 11pm!! Otherwise, keep up the good work. We will be back next year.

We stayed in a power and water site with our trailer. Very large sites with nice grassy areas. Staff were very friendly and the fishing was great.

Love this place. Have been coming for over 15 years. Under new ownership, each year I see new engines on the boats, water in the cabins, and absolutely, freaking awesome customer service and a real desire to please. Thank you for giving me access to this paradise. I average about 3 trips per year. It rocks.

Authentic, cute log cabins c/w old fashioned wood burning stove. Well kept grounds and close to the lake. Enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this facility.
