Campground Description

The Lee Creek Campground in Cardston, Alberta is located at the centre of many outdoor and cultural activities in the area including golfing at a Les Furber designed course, trophy fishing, white water rafting, hiking in Glacier and Waterton National Parks, and trail rides through the foothills bordering the Rocky Mountains. We also have local museums to visit and nightly live theatre.

Local Attractions

A quick two minute drive will get you to Lee Creek Valley Golf Course for your tee time. If you enjoy hiking or biking, Waterton Lakes National Park is only a 35 minute drive away. We are also centrally located to two very popular fishing lakes. In the town of Cardston there is summer theatre during the summer months. Great location

Aug 19, 2024by Shannon McGuey
This campground is great for access to Waterton & East Glacier National Park. This is a city campground, so open and less trees but does the trick for over night stays. The bathrooms could use some attention. Use the shower on the left for longer usage of water (the other one turns off within 1 second of pushing the button) The bathrooms wihtout the showers has no mirrors and one toliet out of order. Fire pits are not true pits so you can only have a tiny fire but that is all you really need on a short visit. Wood they sell is sizable to the pits. Make sure to return wood in person, we made the mistake of leaving it for refund as directed and the wood "went missing" Overall would recommend for the access points it provides but it is not one I would make a vacation out of.

Convenient location for CHT, Waterton and golf courses.

Come each year to enjoy this campground. Have already booked for next year to get a site with full service.

One of our favorite stays this summer

We loved this place. Sites are generous and mostly private. The staff were kind and accommodating. Also there was a fun open area to play with our dogs.

Best near Waterton

Aug 9, 2024by Maralee Rochette
Site we were in was a good size and well maintained. When I booked, it looked like there was some tree coverage(shadows) in the site pic. Upon arrival, no trees at all in that area, which when windy, makes difficult for outdoor cooking on firepit or anywhere outside. Showers at the middle of the campground were alright. The one you had to constantly hold to get water (very difficult to clean yourself/wash hair), found out after that the other one would stay on for about a minute (making it a little easier to clean/wash hair). No lights in the showers at all, so if you need to shower, go during the day. Wish there was actual locks on the shower stalls. I understand that you need a code to get into the bathroom, but sometimes the door wasn't always latched shut, so really anyone could come in. Bathrooms were well maintained otherwise (at least when I used them). We would stay here again as it does seem to be the best option for being close to Waterton.

Nice campground but could be improved

Jul 26, 2024by Anonymous
Enjoy staying at this campground as it is close to other attractions, i.e. St Mary's Reservoir, Waterton National Park, town swimming pool, golf course. New bathrooms/shower rooms could benefit from windows that open for air circulation and natural light. Lights in shower room turned off when I started shower and had to feel my way to the light switch/sensor-very dangerous. Pitch black! Women handicap toilet stall shower could not be used as it did not drain. Men washroom only had one toilet so if someone was taking a shower in the handicap toilet stall, you had to walk to one of the other bathrooms-very inconvenient. Shower water temp was very hot and could not be adjusted cooler. Shower stalls could benefit with small shelf to place your soap/shampoo. Staff put on sprinkler on our site 2 days in a row and we returned each day to a flooded, swampy site, with the sprinkler still running. Sprinkler should be checked regularly so as not to inconvenience campers. Overall, nice campground.

Great Campground,

Jul 23, 2024by Anonymous
The campground is great. Was there for ten days and nights. Laundry facilities were great. The new bathroom facilities have some improvements needed since the floors in the new showers could be slippery. The showers were roomy and the water was a suitable temperature.

Good but also bad

Jul 10, 2024by Murray Sihvon
The camping is very good. The spaces are good, the water and electricity are good. The showers in the older area need adjusting. One was out of order. The other was on a push button timer that ran for a very short duration. The new facility at the office is very poorly designed and built. The shower is in the handicap toilet stall. The shower head is directed through the shower entry door. The floor does not drain so there is a bird bath infront of the handicap toilet.

Best near Waterton National Park

Jul 10, 2024by Craig Cerreta
Stayed here while visiting Waterton National Park. Easy and beautiful drive, about 45 min. Loved this park. We drive a 41' Class A plus tow. The newer section of this park is excellent for big rigs with long pull through sites. Slight slope but not excessive. Clean, well trimmed, well run. The grass at each site was the nicest we have seen this year. Right next to a large creek with great views and water noise. A few blocks from downtown Cardston which has several restaurants and some basic stores. Cardston Pizza was excellent and reasonably priced. We will definitely come back to this campground.

Shower Light Timer

Jun 28, 2024by Anonymous
I love this campground and the new bathrooms are very nice…but…the shower lights are on a timer and will leave you in the dark with no windows. Probably should be rectified.

This campground is very well maintained in a lovely setting. We were in one of the newly opened drive through sites and it is large and easy to use with full services. The older sites are fully treed. A new office is opening soon with new facilities. It’s a great space to spend a few days.

be careful what site you choose if you need internet

Aug 21, 2023by Sheila Hudson
Positives: Staff/management at the campground were very helpful, it was nice to have laundry facilities. Not so positive: in the interest of privacy, we selected the most remote site in the campground. I had to leave our site and go toward the site office for internet access - very inconvenient when trying to catch up on work from my trailer.

This is the second year we’ve camped in this campground. We were in the new area with small tress but the grass area was well watered and very nice. Staff was very pleasant and they keep the campground looking great. Thanks again to Cardston for another wonderful Heritage Days. See you next year.

Stayed 4 nights in site 78. Beautiful campground in a very convenient location. Day trips to Watertown were quick. Our site was in a newer area with smaller trees so no shade. But there was lots of green space for our kids to run. There are sites in the older area that are treed and shaded. Staff were always friendly and accommodating

Great clean campground. Washrooms really make a difference. kids loved playing in the creek and of course having a fire! If I had any sort of critique, I would say the price to just tent is a bit high... it's actually not that much cheaper compared to full service sites. That likely won't stop us from visiting again, thank ya!

Love the booking and check in process.

We stayed for 10 days and had a grwat time. We were in the new area with no shade (which would have been really tough if we were stating there all day). A quick drive from Warerton meant we could experience the park and return to our site after supper. Mostly quiet at night, but this changed with campers coming and going. We'll monitored and clean. Great price as well.

Nice campground

Sep 1, 2022by Lisa Cochrane
It’s nice and quiet in the evenings .. I think my biggest complaint is when I booked the spots I wanted were not available online and we asked at the desk if we could move closer to the bathrooms because we had a senior with us and she also said they were booked but the entire week we stayed, there was never anyone in any of the sights we asked for right up to the day we left?? Makes no sense. The bathroom desperately needs updating and monitored cleaning. Nice areas too walk. If you’re in the older area it’s a good hike to the washroom that’s kind of ridiculous.

Great place to stay

Really Wonderful

Aug 20, 2022by HENRY RIGGELSON
Well-shaded in the older portion. Adjacent to the Remington Carriage Museum and grocery store. a great alternative to camping in Waterton (which has no shade or privacy). This was especially so due to the 30plus temperatures every day. Very reasonable camping fees for power/water/sewer! Only complaint was the archaic, small toilets in the washrooms. Time for an upgrade!

clean with easy acccess to the town

Aug 14, 2022by Paul Webster
too many dogs roaming free causing dog fights, very unprofessional for a campground

Quiet

Aug 4, 2022by Lola Sillito
I was pretty disappointed with the way my booking was handled. I should have been better accommodated. I have bee coming here for 35 + years. If they are going to book us into the over flow they should have bathroom over there or at least give us access to the bathrooms in the reunion center!

Very nice and quiet campground

Great Campground!

Jul 4, 2022by Anonymous
We stayed at the Lee Creek Campground for 3 nights over the Canada Day Long Weekend. It was a great facility. We had a brand new lot with new sod and it was huge. Quick walk to the bathrooms and showers, and the creek was beautiful to walk down the path. With a short 30 min drive to Waterton, this made our decision to stay here even better. We will definitely be back! Awesome time!

We were just there for the Canada day weekend. We are totally impressed with the facility. We hope to return soon. We were sad the Live Theatre in town wasn’t yet operating. A stronger Wifi signal would be appreciated. Still, it’s a first class facility

Nice campground

Jul 1, 2022by Anonymous
We have stayed at this campground many times over the years. This June is the first time I have questions. There were a lot of vacant spots along the creek, and in the new area. It appeared that most of these spots were taken when I booked online,so I took what was left. I asked about other spots when we arrived, and was told they were taken, but none of them had anyone on it thw whole time we were there. She told me my spot may not have good wifi as it was a ways from the building. It had no wifi. The place needed mowing and the day we left the mowers appeared. We did not have a picnic table as it had been dragged to a different spot, and too heavy for us to move. I went to the office twice but no one was there.just wonder why so many spots were vacant and we could not have had one of them.

Very beautiful

This campground has large sites with a good mix of back-in and pull-through sites. We'll treed in the older part of the campground, with new trees planted in the new areas. The washrooms were clean and it was quiet. Good value!

I was pretty disappointed with the way my booking was handled. I should have been better accommodated. I have bee coming here for 35 + years. If they are going to book us into the over flow they should have bathroom over there or at least give us access to the bathrooms in the reunion center!

The campground is great. Was there for ten days and nights. Laundry facilities were great. The new bathroom facilities have some improvements needed since the floors in the new showers could be slippery. The showers were roomy and the water was a suitable temperature.

This campground is very well maintained in a lovely setting. We were in one of the newly opened drive through sites and it is large and easy to use with full services. The older sites are fully treed. A new office is opening soon with new facilities. It’s a great space to spend a few days.
