Campground Description
Southwest Pond park is located 5 kms in on Greenspond road on route 320-33. There are 55 sites, 50 of which are serviced & five sites that are unserviced. The campground has a wonderful comfort station with washrooms, showers and a laundry facility. On-site dumping service is available. The park also has a 9-hole mini golf course on site, a great swimming area, a playground, and kayaking tours within five minutes. Southwest Pond park is the perfect place for your fishing and boating needs!
Local Attractions
There are various activties to do, places to visit, trails to hike and more in our area. Located in Greenspond is the Greenspond hiking trail, Ida's Tea room, and The Hub of the North, and the old courthouse museum. Visit the lookout for whale watching and enjoy great views of Greenspond & Puffin Island.The Homestead Adventures is less than five minutes from the park for canoe, kayak rentals, glamping, and more! Visit the Barbour Living Heritage Village in Newtown to tour an old village. Visit Norton's cove studio & cafe', or take a walk on Newtown's walking trail or Business Pond walking trail. Less than half an hour from the park boasts two beautiful beaches, Lumsden Beach North and capre Freels Beach. Be sure to hike the Lumsden Shoreline Hiking trail and Cape Freels hiking trail while in this area. If you care to venture further, visit Washed Ashore Antiques/Coffee bar in Trinity, and Hare Bay Adventures/Shark Company. Connecting all these wonderful towns is the Ol' Road Trail system, this portion of the trail is 132 Km of dirt road suitable all year round for all-terrain vehicles that can connect you to any part of the island!
