Campground Description
A gem of a spot located in the in the center of the friendly little community of Zama City. Everything you need to enjoy a weekend, a day trip or extended stay options while working in the area. Go fishing at the stocked pond, swim or float at the swimming hole. We are an ATV friendly community, so feel free to bring your machines and explore the area. Coin (loonie) operated showers, playground, horseshoes, picnic shelter, Alberta's most northern disc golf course (listed on udisc.com). During your stay you might even see some of our Hay-Zama wild bison herd!
We have two types of sites available... more intimate back-in treed full-serviced sites, larger drive through full-serviced full serviced sites with lots of room to park. Two glamping cabins were added in 2021! All you need is food and your bedding and loonies for the shower! We have added space to our facility by expanding to the south and adding two fully serviced year round cabins, that offer fully screened in decks, kitchens, cozy queen bedroom and two expansive lofts, outfitted with everything you need to enjoy a getaway with family, friends or that special someone!
We can accomodate larger events, such as weddings, corporate retreats and family reunions, we have a fully serviced Community Hall with commercial Kitchen, or utilize the Park Shelter with BBQ's.

Zama City Campground
Located inside the small hamlet of Zama City, in the far north-west corner of Alberta. This small gem of a spot is used by tourists, workers in the area and yes even the hamlet locals set up camp and enjoy!
The Campground and the Community Park are combined to offer a greater level of service. There are a wide range of campsites that are treed, private and cozy and some that are larger pull-thru sites, with trees and spaced for privacy. Full-serviced sites, pull thru sites have higher amp power capacity, coin operated showers and washrooms as well as outhouses throughout the facility, activity and event shelter, playpark, swimming hole with floating dock, stocked fish pond and horseshoe pits.
*New in 2021 Alberta's most Northern Disc Golf course as well as two Glamping Cabins offering a hybrid camping experience. Most recently (2022) two beautiful year-round cabins that sleep up to 6 and are perfect for a getaway of any type. The property surrounding these have lots of space for accommodating hunters, snowmobilers and extra camping units.
We are an off the beaten path community, so please come prepared. We do have a small convenience store that is open 4-8 most days, they offer the basics as well as Zama City Merchandise. The Store is located at Noralta Inn West. Fuel is available from the Blue Wave Cardlock, either require cardlock account card or you can use Credit Cards in the readers.
Cooler Ice is available as well, please ask a local :)
Alberta’s most Northern Library is a great place to spend a rainy afternoon and enjoy a session in our massage chair, open Monday to Friday 9-4 pm and evenings Mon-Wed 6:30 -8:30 pm (holidays may differ). We have a special promotion for campground users to access borrowing materials… ask the Librarian! We also have a Little Free Library that offers a selection of books and materials that you can keep!
The ‘Gym’ is a 24-hour fitness facility that offers cardio and strength equipment and you can inquire about a gym pass as an add on if you would like to break a sweat during your stay.
We are an ATV friendly facility and community so feel free to bring your ATV’s and explore our backyard. Riding responsibly is required, ride safe, be fire-smart and bring out what you take in!
We hope you enjoy our community as much as us locals do!
We require all guest to take the initiative to clean public surfaces prior and after use, public spaces are use and enjoy at ‘own risk’.
Firewood is available for no charge, please bring your axe as not all firewood may be split. You are welcome to use deadfall around your site but are not allowed to cut trees or branches within the campground / park facility.
Cancellations and refunds: There are no refunds for inclement weather, late arrivals, or early departures.
You can cancel your reservation and collect a full refund, less the $5.00 registration fee if you cancel 72 hours or more before your arrival date. If your cancellation occurs 3 days or less before your arrival date, your fees will be refunded except for the first night’s camping fee. Remember, if you don’t cancel your reservation or do not show up, all fees are forfeited.
Rules and Regulations for Visitors
To ensure your stay with us is as enjoyable as possible, we have established several guidelines to ensure safe and responsible camping.
- Check in time will be 4:00PM, Check out time: 11:00AM. If you are late leaving without prior arrangement you will be charged for an additional night. (if you arrive early you may be able to get in, or wait in the parking area and enjoy the facility.)
- Quiet time Midnight – 7:00AM. Please be respectful of all other users within the facility. This rule will be altered if/when events are held at the park that run past the Midnight timeline. (ie: Canada Day, tournaments, community events)
- The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behavior is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
- The swimming, fishing and playground areas are NOT supervised. Use at your own risk.
- Secure all valuables. The Zama City Campground is not responsible for any loss or damage of personal or private property.
- All dogs must be always in the control of the owner and are limited to a maximum of 2 per campsite. Cleaning up after your pets is mandatory. One pet is allowed in the Glamping Cabins for a $10/day charge. The Year-Round cabins have a no-pet policy. Guests are required to clean up after their pets!
- ATVs are allowed, respect all rules of the road, stay on the hamlet roadways (and out of the ditches please) and be respectful of property and noise. Follow safe off road riding rules to ensure our forest and surrounding areas are protected from excessive use, damages and fire. There are 100's of kilometers of old lease roads, cutlines to utilize.
- Smoking and vaping are prohibited in the washrooms / shower facility. Please dispose of cigarettes in a safe and respectful manner.
- Containers for sunflower seed shells must be used. Please refrain from using the grounds
- Park guests are expected to maintain clean sites. Please use the designated garbage bins for waste - not the fire pits.
- Bears and other wildlife are a normal part of camping in our area, please ensure that garbage and food stuffs are disposed of, or safely stored, to help ensure safe camping
- Bison are common visitors within the site, they are wild, so please give a wide berth and do not approach, the ZRS is not responsible for any wildlife damage you may encounter.
- Public intoxication is not allowed, please use responsibly in all areas of the facility.
- No more than (1) ONE RV unit per site and one tent or two tents per site are allowed. In the larger drive thru sites additional RV’s are allowed based on size, additional camping fees will apply.
- NO PARKING ON GRASSED AREAS and ensure that traffic can flow past all parked vehicles.
- Fires are permitted in firepits only.
- Be sure your campfire is completely extinguished before leaving your site or going to sleep at night. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING FIRES UNDER CONTROL
- Obey restrictions on fires. Fires may be limited or prohibited at certain times.
- Do not use fireworks or caps at the campsite.
- Barbecues are permitted but must always be raised off the ground and attended by an adult.
- All inflatables and water toys need to be stored at your site, not on the swim dock or beach, if you do we are not responsible for lost or damages.
- Do not damage, cut, or remove trees or bushes from the campsites. Deadfall can be used for firewood. Any damage done is an offence and can be charged.
- Cabins shall be left clean and in the similar condition that you found them in. Any damages will be charged to the credit card used for booking. If cleaning over and above the standard is required a $200 charge will apply
- Hunters will ensure that there clothing is clean or removed before entering cabins.
